When the body is satiated, the mind becomes evident and primary. In those oceanic moments of orgasm we can know the mystical for a brief moment. But in those extended periods of time teetering on the precipice of climax, balanced there formless and unburdened by the ritual of routine existence, transported beyond into realms of experience and revelation known by bacchanals and shamans, we can be the mystical.
The first religions viewed sex as a religious observation and entheogens as sacrament, which provided access to the mystical. It was not until the oppressive forces that utilized religion as a weapon against the mind did sex became sinful. Religions of the first people everywhere venerated sex and sought the mystical through ecstatic experience. Ritual sex and entheogens invoked the archetypal energies to deliver insight, wisdom, knowledge, fertility, prosperity, success in love, divination, communion with ancestors, cures for sickness, and victory in battle.
Religion, before being corrupted into a disdain for the flesh that contaminated human thought, celebrated the human condition. Religion, which condemns the flesh, is worse than useless. It is detrimental to our psychological well-being. A resurgence of religions of the flesh will restore our ability to fully embrace the human experience.
